The Story

A renowned jeweler, exhibition designer, merchant, collector, and publisher, Federico de Vera was described by The New York Times as an "aesthetic savant with an Enlightenment point of view, catholic in his interest, Catholics in his upbringing, a believer in a democracy of beauty." This belief in a democracy of beauty pervades the way he curates an assembly of 300 diverse objects from leading museums and various private collections in the Philippines in arresting and provoking juxtapositions. This is the catalogue to that once-in-a-lifetime exhibition, with essays by respected names in Philippine art and culture.
