Lozano Tote bag- This painting entitled Indio Ilocano con Lancales de Calamay/ Pampango con ollas de biscocho by artist Jose Honorato Lozano . This product line repurposes images from the Ayala Museum collection to depict how lives changed during the height of COVID-19. This illustration by the artist Jose Honorato Lozano (1815-1885) was selected to serve as a visual reminder on how to observe social distancing properly - that is to stand an adequate distance apart, avoiding face-to-face contact. The work is originally part of an album of watercolor paintings that show images of various occupations during 19th century Philippines. Here, Lozano depicts an Ilocano and a Pampagueno selling regional delicacies, kalamay and biscocho respectively. Paintings like this were popularly known as tipos del pais (country types) which show Philippine peoples, customs, attire and settings. These were usually intended for export.
